How to Identify Bed Bugs: Bed bugs have three distinct life stages: egg, nymph, and adult. After emerging from the egg, a young bed bug goes through 5 nymphal stages before its final molt to the adult stage. In this photo, the two adults are labeled, and the remainder is nymphs of various stages. Bed bugs are insects and, as such, they have three body regions (head, thorax, and abdomen), six legs, and a pair of antennae.
